CS373 Fall 2020: Lauren Mangibin
What did you do this past week?
It’s crazy that I didn’t have much homework to do this week. In terms of the project, we started styling the website like crazy! It looks very professional, and I’m excited to see what it looks like in the end. We even added gifs t our loading page. I also refactored the about page code to map the information from a members info array into a Card and put it in a Carousel. The code looks much cleaner, and so does the website.
What’s in your way?
Sleep. I think I am enjoying watching telenovelas too much.
But in all seriousness, frontend needs to finish the design of the website before Thursday so we can film the presentation. Backend is getting the visualizations done and putting them on the website as they go.
We have to add highlighting to the model tables and remove the errors in the console as well, so we’ll have to refactor how we load in the information before we display it.
What will you do next week?
Next week, we will finish up the website and record the presentation. We also have to make sure to follow the long list of requirements Larry sent out so we don’t get docked points.
If you read it, what did you think of The New Methodology?
I thought it was a great paper. It is a little old, but the core concepts are still there. I like how it emphasized planning before construction, which is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned at UT.
What was your experience of SQL?
I have experience with Pandas so I was able to compare it to SQL as we went along. I enjoy SQL, I just need to practice it before the test because the ordering of the query messes me up.
What made you happy this week?
I bought Jalapeno chips (best thing on this planet!), and I found a way to save money on boba this weekend! I found out I was allergic to milk, so I suppose I can’t buy it anymore :(
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is this pdf I would pull up when I was doing my coding interviews. It’s a good reminder of how to think about the problem.
